“Filling a space in a beautiful way – that’s what art means to me.” — Georgia O’Keeffe

Thank you for visiting my website. I strive to ‘fill a space in a beautiful way’ to express the best of myself as Georgia O’Keeffe did through her paintings. I share her love of art with a very different style.

Please browse ‘Artwork Collections’ to see a few examples of my style.

About the Artist

Karen Conger specializes in soft pastel and digital paintings of endangered wildlife. Other subjects such as equines, pets, cityscapes, and landscapes are also displayed on this website.

She has experimented with many types of traditional art media including soft pastel, oil, watercolor, colored and graphite pencils, and clay sculpture, as well as computer and electronic media technologies. She especially enjoys the challenges in working with pastels and digital pen.

Karen’s art background includes professional certification in illustration and drawing as well as multiple supplementary courses and art workshops offered by professional artists and educators. Karen is an active member of several professional artist societies and associations.

Karen’s appreciation for lifelong learning has provided opportunities to earn formal degrees in philosophy; education; and finance. She has been self-employed since 1996 as a qualitative research consultant providing professional services for qualitative researchers and doctoral level graduate students. Karen has utilized her artistic ability throughout her professional life in secondary and higher education including co-authoring and illustration of several secondary math courses for the PASS program in California.

Karen has found there are many creative and innovative parallels between the roles of educator and artist with each enhanced by the other. She is now consciously balancing her time between these two professions.

Prints are available for digital pen paintings.
